Your Family Dispute Resolution Specialists

For Lawyers

Legal context is essential. Too often, mediators overlook or undervalue the legal realities families must navigate. With a BA Psych/LLB Laws, Kelly brings a clear understanding of the legal framework into every mediation. This ensures that agreements are practical, enforceable, and aligned with what the law requires — making your job easier, not harder.
Partnership with lawyers is key. Mediation should never be about taking control away from legal representatives. We value your expertise and encourage your involvement. Our goal is to create a collaborative environment where your client feels supported, you feel respected, and together we can achieve the best possible outcome.

Durable outcomes matter. Families come to mediation for solutions they can live with, not just for today but for the years ahead. Our focus is on helping clients reach agreements that will hold up long after the process is complete, reducing the likelihood of future disputes and giving your clients lasting peace of mind.

When you refer clients to Kannen Mediation, you can be confident that their legal rights will be acknowledged and protected throughout the process, while also giving them the chance to take ownership of their future.
If you are looking for a mediator who will collaborate with you to achieve lasting outcomes for your clients, then please contact us to discuss how we can assist you.

A message from Kelly (Principal Mediator)

Most mediators will tell you that they are 'neutral'.
Most mediators will tell you that they 'create space for dialogue'.
Most will tell you the they are 'here to help people reach agreement'.
And that is fine. But it is also beige.

Here is what I believe:
A mediator's job is not just to close a file.
Our job is to protect dignity, preserve relationships, and make lawyers look brilliant in front of their clients.
Because let's be honest - when mediation fails, it's the lawyer who wears it.
The lawyer who has to explain.
The lawyer whose client walks away frustrated.
That is unacceptable.

This is why I build mediation differently and with a different focus to some:
- Structured mediation, so it never drifts
- Courageous mediation, so neutrality does not mean silence
- Durable, so outcomes hold up long after the session ends

My belief is simple - no lawyer should ever have to sit in a mediation worried the mediator will fumble the process.
That is my line in the sand.
